The Browns of Cleveland and the quarter-Arrière Veteran Joe Flacco concluded an agreement on a one-year contract, $ 4 million, his agent, Joe Linta, in ESPN on Friday.
The agreement refers Flacco to Cleveland, where he won the player of the year of the year of the NFL in 2023.
The contract can be worth up to $ 13 million with incentives.
Flacco also spoke with the Pittsburgh steelers and the Vikings du Minnesota, but chose to spend his 18th NFL season with the Browns. The co -owner Jimmy Haslam told a group of local journalists at the NFL annual meeting that Flacoco remained an option for the team.
Flacco joins a quarter room with Deshaun Watson, who is rehabilitated after having removed his right Achille Tendon and could miss most or all of the 2025 season, and Kenny Pickett, who was exchanged in Cleveland and said he would have been lucky to be a starting quarter.
The Browns looked for the quarter to the help of this offseason after using four passers-by in 2024. Cleveland chose not to sign Jameis Winston, the backup of last year, and exchanged for Pickett during the first week of free agency, sending the Eagles of Philadelphia a choice of fifth round and the quarter Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Cleveland holds the second overall choice of the 2025 draft and has met several quarter-arre perspectives, including Cam Ward, Sheder Sanders, Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe and Tyler Shough. Haslam, however, said that the team would not force a quarter to its first selection.
Flacco was believed that some were made with the NFL when no team was seriously thought of adding to their lists for most of the 2023 season.
This season, the Browns have signed Flacco de Watson and he signed a five game section which has competed that the franchise has seen a quarter of a quarter since his return to Cleveland in 1999. Flacco launched for more than 300 meters in four consecutive victories-the Browns have been 4-1 in its last five times.
This put it in place to be considered among the viable backup options in 2024, and the Indianapolis colts added it as a veteran option behind Anthony Richardson on a one -year contract worth $ 4.5 million.
The 2024 Flacco season experienced ups and downs, with an early performance of 359 yards in a defeat against Jacksonville jaguars among the summits. Finally, Richardson’s difficulties and the belief in Flacco prompted the colts to insert the veteran as a starter of week 9.
In the AFC qualifying race at the time, coach Shane Steichen said he thought Flacco had given the colts the best chance of winning. But came the stockings: Flacco, 40, launched four interceptions combined in losses against the Vikings of Minnesota and the Buffalo Bills, leading to his bench and to the reintegration of Richardson as a starter.
The colts went 2-4 with Flacco as a starter last season. He finished with 1,761 yards by the pass, 12 affected and 7 interceptions.
Selected in the first round of the 2008 draft by the Baltimore Ravens, Flacco launched 45,697 yards with 257 affected and 162 interceptions in 17 seasons. He was appointed MVP of the Super Bowl XLVII when he led the Ravens to the victory of the 49ers of San Francisco.
