Matt Bomer had a 2022 crowded in 2022, turning the acclaimed Roman drama “Fellow Travelers” and the “Maestro” nominated with Oscars. It could have been even more busy if he had tightened by playing a ken in “Barbie”, but he has no regrets to refuse this.
Bomer previously revealed to Vanity Fair that he had auditioned to play one of the Kens in the success of Greta Gerwig, but finally moved out of the occasion because it would have needed too much time away from his family (Bomer shares two children with her husband, Simon Halls) with his other reserved roles.
The film continued more than a billion dollars worldwide and has become a cultural feeling. But with hindsight, Bomer is always confident in his decision to concentrate fully on the biopic of Leonard Bernstein by Bradley Cooper, “Maestro”, in which he played the lover of Bernstein, David Oppenheim. The actor told Bi that it would have been too difficult to tighten “Barbie” between his intense collaborative time on “Maestro”.
“Even if my role in” Maestro “was smaller, Bradley was so collaborative with me from the start,” said Bomer about Cooper. “And it was such an immersive experience to have stolen from London to film my scenes (in` Barbie ”) and return to London – I have the impression that ‘Maestro’ would not have been the same experience for me. “
Bomer describes his experience of “maestro” as a life change, saying that it has shaped the way he works as a dramatic actor “for the rest of my career on the film.”
“It was a way of working that I am really grateful to have been exposed,” he said. “I wouldn’t have, I think, if I was trying to press it.”

After the bomer chain of emotionally intense roles in 2023, he took a break. Now it can be seen in a heavy role of Hulu in “Mid-Century Modern”, a sitcom of half an hour of three gay men who are longtime friends living together in Palm Springs. Bomer embodies Jerry Frank, a beautiful on -board hostess and good humor but slightly dim.
“Mid-Century Modern” is a classic comedy that has nuances of “Golden Girls”, but it also has dramatic moments, especially linked to the character of Bomer Jerry’s Backstory. Jerry was a closed Mormon whose ex-wife cut him off from their daughter (played by Billie Lourd, who happens to be the goddaughter of Bomer’s husband in real life) after being gay.
Bomer praised the way the show can “go a little Norman Lear and manage some of the heaviest things”, especially with his character, but his main objective was to create something fun and not so serious – both for himself and for viewers.
“I hope it brings a lot of joy to a lot of people,” Bomer in Bi told Bomer. “This is what we wanted. That’s what I know I needed. I needed to laugh and come to work and laugh, and I hope it causes a lot of laughs to people too.”
“Mid-Century Modern” is now in difficulty Hulu.
