Volunteers will go to Atlanta to face the Yellow Jackets on September 12, 2026. Georgia Tech will make a return trip to Neyland Stadium the following season on September 11, 2027.
The agreement of the series replaces Nebraska on the Tennessee calendar after the Cornhuskers canceled the meetings in 2026 (Lincoln) and 2027 (Knoxville).
“After the Nebraska canceled the series, our main objective was to guarantee another home game with an opponent of a Power Four conference, which seemed unlikely at the time,” said the Vice-Chancellor / Director of Tennessee Athletics, Danny White. “I sincerely appreciate the creativity of the sports director J BATT in the modification of the Georgia Tech calendar to make this series possible. We are impatient to see a lot of orange in Atlanta in 2026!”
The slate non -conference flights 2026 also currently includes home games against Furman (September 5) and Kennesaw State (September 19).
The Tennessee directs the series of all time with Georgia Tech, 25-17-2, and the two regularly faced the decades before. The two programs met every three years from 1954 to 1987, although the 2026 match was only the second meeting in the past 38 years.
The last competition saw the flights survive a thriller in double extension, 42-41, on September 4, 2017, in the kissing match of Chick-Fil-A at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
