A football coach for young people from the Los Angeles region was accused of the murder of a 13 -year -old boy, as well as the assault of two other teenagers, during a legal hearing on Tuesday.
Prosecutors accused Mario Edgardo Garcia Aquino, 43, of killing Oscar Omar Hernandez, whose body was found next to the road to the county of Ventura. Garcia Aquino was charged with murder of special circumstances during the committee or attempted commission of obscene acts with a child.
The accusation is addressed to a maximum prison sentence in perpetuity without the possibility of parole or the death penalty. The Los Angeles County Prosecutor’s Office will decide to ask for the death penalty on a later date.
The District Prosecutor’s Office also accused Garcia Aquino of a sexual offense or an obscene law on a child involving a teenager of around 14 or 15 years in 2022 and the assault with the intention of committing a sexual offense involving a 16 -year -old in February 2024.
“No parent should ever have to endure unimaginable pain and sorrow to learn that their child was murdered,” said district prosecutor Nathan J Hochman, in a statement. “Oscar just got on a train and he didn’t know he never knew he would never come back. Sexual predators that target victims for their own gratuity will be held responsible and prosecuted to the extent of the law. ”
Garcia Aquino has led to football for young people with Hurricane Valley Boys Soccer Club, Los Angeles Times reported, citing local authorities.
Hernandez’s family reported Oscar disappeared on March 30 after boarding a train to help Garcia Aquino do football jerseys in Lancaster on March 28.
Last week, family and friends gathered for a vigil and a press conference on the site of Oscar’s body. “He didn’t need to be treated like an animal. He was my son,” shouted his mother, Gladys Bautista, in Spanish, reported the Los Angeles station of ABC News.
Hernandez’s family, who sees Honduras, told Kcal News that they were wondering if Garcia Aquino had targeted families who had no legal status in the United States.

The Sheriff of the County of Los Angeles, Robert Luna, said that his office was trying to speak with other people who may have been attacked by Garcia Aquino. He encouraged the victims to manifest themselves regardless of their immigration status.
“I am here today in search of additional victims in a case of sexual violence on implying children … Mario Garcia Aquino in the Palmdale region,” he said at a press conference on Monday.
