Berkeley – A woman died on Friday after being trapped in her fire house in the south of Berkeley, authorities announced on Tuesday.
The Coroner office is confirming his name and he is not released until his family is informed.
The fire started around 4:50 p.m. Friday in an apartment on the ground floor on rue Derby near Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
The firefighters entered the house on fire and found the woman unconscious and seriously burned in the room where they believe that the fire had started. Fire managers did not say what part it was.
She was brought outside where paramedical paramedics began rescue measures before she was taken by ambulance to the hospital where she died later.
No other injury has been reported, but two residents were moved. The Red Cross was called to help them.
The cause of the fire is the subject of an investigation.
There have been three deadly fires so far this year in Berkeley. There was not some last year.
