Alexander ‘The Great’ Volkanovski finally obtained his own pair of personalized UFC shorts and the fans absolutely love that.
There was a time in the UFC where fighters could wear what they wanted from Jiu-Jitsu Gis and shoes in the 1990s in Speedos in the 2000s. All of this changed when the UFC signed partnerships with Reebok and later Venum, the list of combatants going to uniform.
Of course, there are a few exceptions with several UFC stars that rock their own look like Sean O’malley in his bright pink shorts or Bryce Mitchell and his Camo Realtree coveted shorts.
Venum’s personalized shorts only became fashionable after a month after Alexander Volkanovski was dethroned by Ilia Topuria at UFC 298.
Symbolism behind the UFC shorts of Alexander Volkanovski
Nicknamed “Alexander the Great” after the legendary Macedonian king who won the Persian Empire (and a large part of the world), Volkanovski paid tribute to his Macedonian roots with his personalized shorts request.
Volkanovski shorts came in deep green and gold with the pattern of Greek meander.
There are two laurel sheets under the belt, representing ancient honor and victory symbols, which Volkanovski had a lot in his illustrious career of 16 UFC combinations.
Next to the bay leaves, a round shield is shown with the nickname Volkanovski by reading “The Great” in Greek lettering. On the other side, the name of the former champion is in gold – suitable for his 10th consecutive title fight this weekend.
Born in New South Wales, Australia, Volkanovski also sported a star motif for his country of origin.

Alexander Volkanovski was not always loved in the UFC, but he finally won the fans with his performances against Max Holloway and the Korean zombie, still very respected after defeats against the Islam Makhachev and Ilia Topuria champions.

“These are hard as hell,” wrote another.
“It looks a bit like Dricus (from Plessis) but it’s still fire,” said a fan.

Personalized shorts and return to the octagon, it’s been a long time for Volkanovski who has not fought for over a year.
