Elon Musk On Saturday, defended the White House office, arguing that the working group is “extremely transparent”. Musk faced a growing reaction on his work to reshape the federal government.
“We are very transparent with the Government Ministry of Efficiency,” Musk told the Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini at a meeting of the Italian League party.
“Any action we do, we publish on the DOGE.GOV site and we publish on our X account, so it’s extreme transparency,” he said.
Musk described the challenges he faced when the vision of President Donald Trump of a leaner government.
“It is very difficult to reduce the size of bureaucracy and public spending,” he said. “It comes with immense opposition, even when the things we delete have no meaning.”
“We only reduce the most obvious terrible expenses that make no sense,” he said. “Nevertheless, we are attacked like crazy.”
Since his training in January, Doge’s staff have changed a myriad of departments and agencies, from the Treasury and State departments to the Social Security Administration, at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and in USAID.
A new report by the Challenger Opening Firm, Gray & Christmas, revealed that Doge’s actions have led to more than 216,000 layoffs throughout the federal workforce.
The decline against Musk and Doge, on the other hand, swelled among the general public. The national demonstrations – called “Tesla Takedown” – targeted the society he runs last week. During national anti-top events this weekend, Musk was again at the center of many demonstrators.
Musk’s influence can be directed in the middle of the growing reaction. On Tuesday, he suffered a major political loss while Susan Crawford, the candidate supported by Democrat in the Supreme Wisconsin Court race, easily beat the conservative judge Brad Schimel. America PAC of Musk poured millions into the race to support Schimel.
This week was also very consecutive for Trump, because the president deployed his “reciprocal” prices on dozens of business partners on Wednesday – which aroused large criticism and caused one of the worst recent memory market sales.
In particular, while speaking with Salvini on Saturday, Musk said that he wanted to see a “zero-tail” system between the United States and Europe, a surprising break in rhetoric from the Trump’s white house.
“I hope it is agreed that Europe and the United States should ideally evolve, in my opinion, to a zero-tail situation, effectively creating a free trade area between Europe and North America,” said Musk. “This is what I hope to happen.”
