Fans of March Madness did not know what to do with a unique interpretation of the star banner in San Antonio, Texas, Saturday evening.
The performance has seen four students of each Final Four school gathered to sing the national anthem, according to college tradition.
Ac Fitzpatrick represented Florida, Mary Katherine Malone was there for Auburn, Jenna Kerkman was the representative of Houston and Moorea Mitchell sang Duke.
They sang and harmonized together and while the arena fans praised the performance with huge cheers, others looking at the United States were less convinced.
Those who appreciated it quickly shared the praise. A fan wrote: “Exceptional work on the national anthem in the Final Four … give me heart on the” name “at any time. Bravo to the young girls of each school. You did yourself, your schools and your proud nation!
Another said on X: “Honestly, it was one of the best performance of the national anthem that I have seen for a while. Conceptually cool with the 4 schools represented and well executed.

One was emotional, publishing on X: “I just watched the girls sing the national anthem for starting the Final Four. You smothered me a little, you just feel like you have meaning.
But fans who were not impressed did not quickly evacuate.
A fan responded to the video account of the Madness of the NCAA March of performance, saying: “Like the idea but it was difficult.”
A different critic said: “This national anthem is waste.”
Another spectator tweeted: “Okay, I’m not trying to be mean, but the singers of the national anthem were not the best to you, singing Lol.”
The first Final Four match on Saturday evening saw Florida against Auburn before Houston then took the Duke of Cooper Flagg in the subsequent confrontation.
The final will then take place on Monday evening.
