One of the participants of the festival who was the subject of many tweets was Liao, who admitted having stolen beds and pee on mattresses the first night of the festival.
He approached his actions on Instagram after the documentary release, writing: “People are angry with me, and I understand why – I certainly did not meet in the film given the way it was cut.”
He then carried out “history” on the reasons why he and his friends did it, saying that the tents were empty anyway.
“People have spread rumors about residents who brandish machetes, tents and fire stands, and rabid dogs wandering on the site (which was later revealed to be false),” he wrote. “On the film, I laughed by telling the story, but in reality, in Fyre, we were panicked. What I laughed at the film was the absurdity of the whole situation in retrospective. @Chris_smith knows 🙂 I laughed during the hours and half of me.”
He then published a link to the GoFundme de Rolle campaign in his biography. He continued to be the business development manager for Pulse Lab and Blockmedx, and was also a film producer in collaboration with Vice Media, according to his LinkedIn. (Vice Media produced the Doc Netflix.)
