The Malaysian hockey federation did not invite Pakistan finalists last year for the Azlan Shah Cup this year in November due to “exceptional debt”.
“A former PHF civil servant made bad decisions during the last Azlan Shah Cup which left the PHF indebted to the MHF”, according to a source of PHF.
The Malaysian organizers were “not satisfied” with the situation, so they did not extend an invitation to Pakistan the finalists from last year.
The source said that PHF officials were trying to settle the issue with the MHF and that the invitation will come later this week.
“Pakistan and Malaysia have very solid hockey links built over the years and this problem should be resolved,” he added.
The reigning champions will be missing due to previous commitments.
