The Eaton fire victims who lived at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium Complex moved to Duarte refuge on Friday, officials of the American Red Cross.
The managers of the auditorium complex, which welcomed the America’s Got Talent, orchestra concerts and many other events in its history almost 100 years old, had asked that it has returned to the city of Pasadena D ‘Here in early February, the Los Angeles County Public Social Services Department said in a press release on Friday.
Earlier this month, around 250 people lived in the refuge, managed by the American Red Cross. Since the number of fire evacuates had decreased by a peak of around 1,500, the objective was to move the remaining residents in a smaller building, said the city spokesperson in Pasadena , Lisa Dederian, in Times earlier this month.
The NAACP Image Awards should take place at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on February 22, and America’s Got Talent will film there on March 14 and 19, according to the auditorium website.
The Eaton Fire, which started on January 7, leveled the expanses of Altadena and neighboring communities, destroying more than 9,400 houses and other structures and claiming 17 lives. From the WestSide, the palisades fires destroyed nearly 7,000 structures and killed 12.
By choosing the new place of refuge at the Pamela Park Gymnasium in Duarte, in the county and the Red Cross, the managers of the Red Cross hoped to keep the evacuated in fire near their social networks and the resources of the neighborhood they know , according to the press release.
Residents of the Duarte refuge will continue to receive meals as well as mental health services and health services in the event of a disaster, a spokesperson for the Red Cross.
Red cross transition specialists will help shelter residents to find transportation and develop a “clear plan”. The Red Cross will help residents find more permanent accommodation and link them to federal, state and county resources, according to the press release from County Department of Public Social Services.
“I will continue to closely follow the well-being of people affected, making sure to have access to critical resources and a stability at their transition to the new refuge,” said Kathryn Barger, the ComtĂ© supervisor who represents The area, said in the press release.
Barger also urges local owners to rent to fire victims.
The County Development Authority and the Red Cross try to find a rental of one and two bedrooms less than 10 miles from the Eaton fire limit, in particular in Pasadena, Glendale and Monrovia, said Barger in a press release press Thursday.
“Many of these families find it difficult to rebuild their lives while ensuring the stability of their children,” said Barger. “I urge the owners with units available to associate with us and provide a rescue buoy for those who need it.”
