One person was killed and at least three others were injured in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a business jet crashed on another plane after landing on Monday.
The Federal Aviation Administration said that Learjet 35a – belonging to Vince Neil of the Mötley Crüe group – left the track upon arrival at Scottsdale municipal airport around 2:45 p.m., officials said at a conference press.
A spokesperson for the airport said that the main left equipment of Neil’s Jet had failed landing. According to the singer’s spokesperson, two pilots and two passengers were on the plane which left Austin, Texas, but Neil was not on board.
There were five people aboard the plane, according to Captain Dave Folio of the Scottsdale fire service. One of the passengers was declared dead on his arrival and three others were transported to a local hospital.
The first speakers were still working to extract the remaining victim from the wreckage, said Folio. The National Transportation Safety Board will resume the investigation.
The PGA Tour Phoenix Open took place this weekend in Scottsdale. This is generally one of the busiest periods of the year for the airport.
There is no commercial flight or airport at the airport, according to its website, but it is home to many business aircraft in the region.
