Palo Alto police arrested three people suspected of having stolen three restaurants around University Avenue last Thursday, according to a press release from the department.

The three suspects were residents of San Francisco ranging from 27 to 31 years. Police said they were subcontractors from a company that had provided night cleaning services to the three restaurants. Palo Alto police first received a call from a burglary on December 23, around 9:30 am, an employee of the local restaurant Union 271 at 271 University Ave. Called to report a night burglary. The police investigation revealed that several suspects entered a rear door around 4 am and took a safe that held $ 5,000 in cash.

Around 8:30 a.m. on December 26, an employee of the restaurant and the Nola bar at 535 rue Ramona called the police about a night burglary. Investigators said that a group of suspects entered the restaurant through a rear door and stole a safe containing $ 4,000 in cash.

On January 28, police received a call around 9:30 a.m. from an ETAN restaurant employee at 518 Bryant St., who reported a third night burglary. The police said that their investigation revealed that several suspects had entered the restaurant from a back door between 2 and 5 a.m. and took a safe with about $ 7,000 in cash.

Police said the suspects had been identified in a follow -up investigation. Police obtained arrest warrants against the three suspects and arrested them on Thursday evening in San Francisco.

The police service said they were continuing their investigation to see if additional suspects could be involved or if one of the suspects can be linked to other recent burglary in Palo Alto and in the surrounding cities.
