A plane hit a tug vehicle at Chicago O’Hare International Airport on Saturday, sending the 64 -year -old driver to hospital with several injuries.
After having stolen from Kalamazoo, Michigan, on Saturday evening, the flight Air Wisconsin 6181 landed in Chicago and was on the way to the door when he collided with a tug on the traffic lane.
According to the Chicago police department, the tug driver – a small vehicle designed to tow planes – was trying to cross the traffic lane when the tug and the jet bomber CRJ -200 were crashed, turning the tug and pinning the Driver below.
The tug driver underwent injuries to the head and lower body and was transported to the Lutheran general hospital in critical condition, but was then stabilized, the police said.
No passengers or crew members aboard the flight was injured, according to a statement from American Airlines. Air Wisconsin operates flights for the American Eagle Network, which is part of American Airlines.
“Nothing is more important than the security of our customers and team members, and we examine this incident,” said American Airlines in a press release.
The company added that the tug was operated by another carrier.
The passengers moved and were transported to the bus terminal.
The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating the incident.
The incident one day came after a medical transport jet crashed in the northeast of Philadelphia, killing at least seven people, and less than a week from the deadly collision of the middle of the arrow of An American airline for airlines and an army helicopter near Washington, DC, who killed the 67 people on board the two planes in the deadliest American aviation in two decades.
