The USAID’s main website was offline this weekend and thousands of staff may have lost access to their email accounts in the midst of rumors that the Trump administration intends to eliminate the agency.
The website was dark after the members of the staff associated with the Elon Musk government ministry had access to the field, then blocked USAID employees, a person familiar with the case in FedSCOOP. The source said that around 2,000 messaging accounts associated with USAID workers have since been disabled.
USAID did not respond to a request for comments at the time of publication.
The news follows a massive and sudden break on American international assistance which is global development groups shaken responsible for disburse critical and vital resources.
DOGE staff have taken over other computer systems from the government, in particular at the office of staff management and the Treasury Department. The Trump administration has lowered other government websites in recent days, including a data page on disease and prevention control centers and the census .GOV, although both were restored later.
