One of the most disappointing group stages in Bayern Munich’s history. Feyenoord are undoubtedly a talented team, but the way Bayern played and lost this match was truly disappointing.
Bayern Munich struggles to achieve away wins
In this Champions League campaign, they have now lost their third away match. It’s a scary thought when Bayern could face the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Real Madrid in a playoff match. Current performance on the road is not enough.
The high line is high risk
This is nothing new, but a high line is extremely prone to counter-attacks and Feyenoord had some incredible balls forward which created their goals. It worked for Hansi Flick, but does it work for Vincent Kompany?
Bayern Munich could use Justin Bijlow
With diminishing returns in goal each year, time is running out for Manuel Neuer. It’s a game like this that makes fans realize how Bayern could benefit with some certainty from a goalkeeper in the future. Neuer? Daniel Peretz? Jonas Urbig? Who knows, but Bayern need someone.
30 attempts, 0 goals
Yes, you read that correctly. Bayern Munich made 30 attempts on goal without scoring a single goal. While Bijlow was extremely impressive with six crucial saves, Bayern missed the net on 26 occasions. Thanks to Feyenoord, but this kind of precision is unacceptable.
