A rock legend canceled his appearance at an awards show and postponed several concerts due to his health.
Sting announced Tuesday that his doctor had advised him to rest this week “due to illness,” forcing The Police singer to skip the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday and postpone his tour dates in Phoenix, Arizona, and in Wheatland, California, as well as a performance at Cherrytree Music Company’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. The Sting concert in Phoenix has been postponed from January 24 to June 1, the Wheatland concert has been moved from January 26 to May 28 and the Cherrytree concert will take place on May 29.
“Fans should hold on to their tickets for the rescheduled shows, as they will be honored on the new dates,” a statement said. “Sting sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience and expresses his gratitude to the fans for their understanding.”
Sting, 73, did not provide further details about his illness. He is still scheduled to perform April 11 at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse and Feb. 8 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, both with Billy Joel, as well as more than a dozen “Sting 3.0” concerts in February and March.
A limited number of tickets to the Billy Joel/Sting Syracuse concert are still available on Ticketmaster starting at $191.20. Fans can also find tickets through Stubhub (starting at $196), Vivid Seats (starting at $162), and SeatGeek (starting at $181).
Sting is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician known for hits like “Every Breath You Take,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Every Little Thing She Does is Magic.” , “Desert Rose” and “Roxanne”. He previously played the old Carrier Dome with The Police in 1982 and 1984, drawing 42,000 fans in 1984 – the third-largest crowd in Dome history – and rocking the Syracuse Amphitheater in 2022.

Sting’s “3.0” tour dates feature the iconic bassist performing in a trio with drummer Chris Maas, who previously toured with Mumford & Sons, as well as his longtime collaborator Dominic Miller on guitar.
Joel, also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will perform at the Dome for the eighth time, breaking his own record. The piano legend is known for some of the biggest hits of the 1970s and 1980s, including “Piano Man”, “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)”, “Uptown Girl”, “Only the Good Die Young”, “The Longest Time,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” and “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”
