Trump continues to crack down on ‘immoral’ diversity programspublished at 8:16 a.m. Greenwich Mean Time

Furthermore, this morning, the Trump administration continues its campaign against diversity and inclusion programs.
In a memo from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, released late last night, federal agencies are urged to prepare to lay off staff in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) programs. It orders all employees in such positions to be placed on paid leave by 5:00 p.m. local time (22:00 GMT) on Wednesday, according to the memo – obtained by CBS, the BBC’s US partner.
This follows a new executive order, signed by the president earlier Tuesday, calling for an end to what he called “dangerous, humiliating and immoral” hiring practices.
Trump’s campaign against diversity programs is consistent with promises he made on the campaign trail, during which he often said such practices discriminated against whites and pledged to get rid of it.
Several major U.S. companies have ended or scaled back their own DEI programs since Trump’s election, including McDonald’s, Walmart and Meta. Others, like Apple and retailers Target and Costco, have publicly defended their existing programs.
