A man saw his cholesterol levels drop dramatically after exploring natural remedies and incorporating a small dose of a natural ingredient into his diet.
John Taylor, from Manchester, discovered his cholesterol levels were dangerously high.
High cholesterol is dangerous because it can lead to heart disease, stroke and other serious health problems, according to Penn Medicine .
Rather than immediately turning to medication, the 57-year-old decided to explore natural remedies. That’s when he came across chia seeds, a superfood that’s growing in popularity.
He eventually started adding two tablespoons of chia seeds to his daily diet, either mixed into a smoothie or sprinkled on porridge.
“It was such a simple change and I was amazed by the results. My cholesterol levels dropped and I felt healthier overall,” John said.
Ultimately, John reduced his cholesterol levels by 30% in eight weeks.
Dr Emma Patel, Registered Nutritionist explained: “Chia seeds are rich in soluble fiber, which helps bind to cholesterol in the digestive system and remove it from the body.
“They’re also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which reduce inflammation and support heart health.”
Dr Patel noted that while chia seeds are very effective, they should be part of a balanced diet alongside regular physical activity for the best results.

New discoveries showed a 40% increase in online searches for chia seeds over the last year, reflecting growing public awareness of their benefits.
“Studies confirm that consuming around 30 grams of chia seeds daily can significantly reduce LDL cholesterol,” said an Improve My Search Ranking spokesperson. “This explains why more and more people are seeking them out and incorporating them into their diet.”
LDL cholesterol, or low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, is a type of fat in your blood that is sometimes called “bad” cholesterol, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explain.
Dr Patel further advised: “Chia seeds are incredibly versatile and easy to incorporate into meals, whether in yogurts, salads or smoothies.
“However, it is always best to consult a healthcare professional to tailor any dietary changes to your needs.”
