It’s been a whirlwind of emotions for Detroit Lions players and fans over the past few days. As if the painful loss to the Washington Commanders in the divisional round wasn’t enough, the Lions organization is seeing its entire coaching staff being tossed aside by other teams. It appears the Lions will lose both coordinators, and several position coaches, including OL coach Hank Fraley and defensive line coach Terrell Williams, are potential finalists for coordinator jobs elsewhere.
As of publication time, however, only one thing is certain: Former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is the new head coach of the Chicago Bears, and that has a lot of people upset. Johnson was expected to leave this season after producing three straight top-five years in Detroit, but seeing him leave immediately for a division rival is a tough pill to swallow.
But one Lions player with a unique perspective had an absolutely perfect reaction to the news. Enter Lions running back David Montgomery, via his Instagram page:

Montgomery, of course, arrived in Detroit in 2023 from the Chicago Bears organization. He’s never minced his words about his unhappiness in Chicago, so seeing his offensive coordinator voluntarily choose to go there must be a strange feeling for him.
And if you’re wondering where this image came from, it was when Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs disrupted a Jared Goff media session. Goff was asked what he liked best about Montgomery, and he gave his quarterback this look while waiting for his answer. Johnson was just touched up on Goff.
