It’s that time of year again, where Hollywood celebrates the year’s best films, performances and more. This is also when the Razzie Awards turns all that on its head.
Up for Worst Film at the 45th Golden Raspberry Awards, a video game adaptation Borderlandsmusical suite Joker: Folie à DeuxMarvel Madame WebFreancis Ford Coppola’s passion project Megalopolis and presidential biopic Reagan.
It’s no coincidence that all five are tied with six Razzie names each. The directors of these films are also in the running for the director “award”, with the exception of Coppola; Jerry Seinfeld took this fifth place for his comedy Pop Tarts Not frosted. The former sitcom king is also up for the worst actor award.
In the “How the Mighty Have Fallen” department, the men and women nominated for the Razzies include Academy winners Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga (Joker: Folie à Deux), Cate Blanchett (Borderlands), Ariana DeBose (Argylle and Kraven the Hunter) and Jon Voight (Megalopolis And Reagan).
Unfrosted I got four Razzie names in total, and The Raven the reboot has two. The winners will be announced on March 1, the day before the Oscars.
