Although Dr. Britt Baker, DMD has been with AEW since day one, that hasn’t stopped the wrestler/dentist from being surrounded by controversy for much of her time with the promotion. The latest story circulating about Baker was shared by Wade Keller on PWTorch’s VIP Podcast (address to Cultaholic for transcription). According to Keller, Baker has drawn the ire of multiple sources in the AEW locker room, including at the top.
“She might be done with AEW,” Keller said. “The feeling I have from talking to the people at AEW is that Tony Khan might put her in the same category as other wrestlers, where they just don’t get phone calls and don’t get called to present. There’s a lot of frustration with it.”
Keller also said Baker was “extremely unpopular” with other women working for the company, although he noted there might be some people behind the scenes who would disagree with that sentiment. It has been said that part of the reason for Baker’s recent absence was due to his confrontation with Maxwell Jacob Friedman last year, but there has also been at least one minor incident since that caused Khan to asking if Baker was worth staying on television.
Britt Baker’s Previous AEW Controversies
Last year, Baker was involved in some sort of altercation with fellow AEW star MJF backstage, with reports circulating that Baker was speaking negatively in the locker room about a lengthy match between MJF and Will Osprey. Alicia Atout alerted MJF to the conversation via text message, which led Ospreay to approach Baker to talk about the situation. Baker then allegedly made inflammatory statements about Trump, leading MJF to become involved. After an internal investigation, Baker was reportedly suspended.
Baker has also had notorious issues with Thunder Rosa in the past, with the short-lived reality series “AEW All Access” addressing their issues. According to Keller, Baker has long had a reputation for being difficult to work with, and his impression is that Baker has been “fiercely territorial” about his place within AEW.
According to Keller, Baker being kept off television has nothing to do with her recent split from fellow AEW star Adam Cole. The two ended their relationship last year, and the report says neither has “warmth” over the situation. Baker has previously expressed frustration with reported rumors about her move to AEW, stating that she loves the company and wants to grow the women’s division rather than harm it.
