Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid has witnessed countless unique scoring plays from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The final touchdown pass to tight end Travis Kelce while falling and avoiding a sack was another incredible moment and a catalyst for the team’s divisional round victory over the Houston Texans.
Reid shared his thoughts on Mahomes’ miraculous moments in the clutch during his postgame press conference.
“Yeah, I always tell our coaches, ‘Don’t get used to this.’ It’s unreal (and) I say the same thing to the fans We’re very lucky to have him (Patrick Mahomes) here,” Reid said. “The things he’s doing just don’t happen. is why he is best at doing what he has done in a relatively young career here. I thought offensive coordinator Matt) Nagy did a good job putting guys in position to have some real nice plays as well.”
Mahomes completed 16 passes for 177 yards and the touchdown to Kelce, who benefited with seven receptions for 117 yards. The Chiefs clinched their seventh straight trip to next week’s AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.
