OK, Academy members, time is up. Overtime is almost over, and this is your last warning to vote for the Oscar nomination before the final deadline at 5 p.m. PT today, January 17.
Due to the wildfire tragedy in Los Angeles, the voting window was extended twice. The original deadline was Sunday, January 12, then it was extended to Tuesday, January 14, and finally today. In informal conversations, I have encountered voters who have taken advantage of these extensions and may still be waiting to vote before 5 p.m. today or, in all the confusion and worry over the fires, have simply something else in mind. As other voting groups, including BAFTA, PGA, WGA and ASC, finally announced their nominations this week, it became clear that there would be no more Oscar delays.
The Academy also just released the schedule for the nominations announcement, which will begin Thursday at 5:30 a.m. PT/8:30 a.m. ET and will be split into two parts as usual. Originally planned with a live audience at Academy headquarters, this event will now take place virtually.

The 97th Academy Award nominations in all 23 categories will be announced from the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater via a global live broadcast on Oscar.com, Oscars.org and the Academy’s digital platforms, as well as news programs broadcast nationally, including ABC. Hello America and streaming on ABC News Live, Disney+ and Hulu.
