Elon Musk feuds with Twitch streamer Asmongold

Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is in the middle of a heated feud with a video game streamer Zack Hoyt, better known as “Asmongold”, which accuses Musk of cheating Path of Exile 2.
Asmongold is not the only gamer to accuse Musk of cheating, as the entire gaming community, especially Path of Exile Gamers believe Musk pays people to play games for him, upgrading his characters and arming them with powerful gear, a practice known as “boosting.”
After Musk played Path of Exile 2 During a livestream, players quickly noticed that his actions were not consistent with those of a competent player and compiled a list of evidence on Reddit that strongly implies that Musk empowers his characters.
Commenters responded with bemused disbelief: One wrote that Musk “can’t seem to understand why he can’t pick up items when his inventory is full.”
It should be noted that Path of Exile 2 is a very difficult game that requires a serious investment of time to reach the level reached by Musk’s character (level 97 in hardcore mode).
A man who runs several businesses simply doesn’t have the time to do it.
What happened between Elon Musk and Asmongold?
Like many gaming streamers, Asmongold watched Musk’s live stream from Path of Exile 2 and came to the conclusion that Musk didn’t know how to play correctly.
Asmon went further and challenged Musk to prove that he had reached level 97 on his own.
If Musk could prove it, Asmon promised he would broadcast on X (Twitter) for a full year. Once news of Asmon’s challenge reached X, Musk didn’t take the criticism very well.
Musk, who followed Asmongold on X, quickly unfollowed the Twitch streamer. Asmon later reacted to Musk in a video titled “Elon Musk has lost it”, stating:
“Elon unfollowed Asmon? He’s probably not happy with the PoE video. There’s no way he played on that account…it was so obvious! You can’t blame me for bringing this up. Everyone was talking about it. Come on, man.
Musk responded by posting on X, writing:
“Asmon behaves like an “independent” maverick, but actually has to ask his boss for permission before he can do anything. He is not his own man.
It was unclear what Musk was referring to, until Musk disclosed private messages between him and Asmon, in which Asmon refers to his “editors” on YouTube.
Like many Twitch streamers, Asmongold also has a YouTube channel that posts shorter, edited clips of his streams. Editing is done by others and the channel’s revenue is shared between them.
Elon Musk appears to have misunderstood the role of a YouTube editor and assumed that editor translates to a journalistic editor who decides what type of stories a publication should cover.
So, Musk seemed to suggest that Asmon’s content was censored to some extent.
Musk later criticized Asmon in another X article, writing:
“There’s no other way to say this, but, while Asmon IS good at caustic comments and making fun of people, he is NOT good at video games.”
Asmon responded to Musk’s provocation by writing: “Leaking my DMs is one thing, but it’s completely uncalled for. »
After watching the feud, some Musk fans in the gaming community seemed disappointed, with many expressing that the world’s richest man had lost their trust.
One commenter wrote: “As a player you take great pride in your rank/level. Trying to fake that while being the richest man in the world is just absurdly pointless. I would say it also makes me wonder: if he’s willing to lie about this, what else is he willing to lie about.
Others pointed out that there was absolutely no need for Musk to claim to be a skilled gamer: the man has accomplished more in the real world than in the digital realm.
Some doubted Musk’s other questionable gaming accomplishments, such as his claim to be one of the world’s best gamers at Diablo 4.
Others took the opportunity to publicize Musk’s legendarily incompetent comments. Ancient Ring build, who had no less than two shields, but no healing flask (somehow his character had managed to reach level 111).
Just to be clear, it’s more than understandable that Musk isn’t particularly good at playing video games, either Path of Exile 2 Or Ancient Ring.
Musk is a father of 11, CEO of several companies and is expected to soon have a place in the Trump White House. He clearly doesn’t have time to play these time-consuming games at the difficulty level he claims, nor should he.
Of course, he doesn’t really have time to deal with Twitch streamers either, and yet here we are.
