Sheinelle Jones announced she was taking some time off from TODAY to attend to “a family health matter.”
She updated fans with a message on Instagram that was read on the show by Savannah Guthrie on January 15.
“Hey everyone…I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out to me during my absence from the show,” Sheinelle said. “I want to share with you that I am taking the time to resolve a family health issue.
“I never forget how lucky I am to not only have the support of my Today Show family, but to have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me.
I’ll see you soon.
Love, Sheinelle ❤️”
Sheinelle has worked for NBC News since 2014 and is co-host of TODAY’s 3rd Hour.
“We know so many of you are asking about Sheinelle and we miss her, and we miss her too,” Savannah said after sharing her statement on air.
“Sheinelle, we all love you and we can’t wait to see you again,” Craig Melvin said.
“We’ll see you soon,” Savannah said.
The TODAY family also showed their support for Sheinelle in the comments on her Instagram post.
“We love you so much. It’s not the same without you. See you soon ❤️,” Savannah wrote.
“You are a queen and you are LOVED beyond measure! Wrapping our arms around you, always ❤️,” Jenna Bush Hager wrote.
TODAY fans also sent their best wishes to Sheinelle.
“Thank you for sharing this, Sheinelle. You are so loved. ❤️,” one wrote.
“Take care…I miss you and hope you’re back soon❤️,” another commented.
