A new report provides more information on Penta’s arrival in WWE.
Former AEW star Penta made his debut on the January 13 episode of WWE RAW and defeated Chad Gable. His debut had been teased for weeks and WWE had all but confirmed that he would be Gable’s opponent before the show by promoting their products.
Sean Ross Sapp Fighter (via Combative selection) reported an update regarding Penta’s arrival. Sapp wrote that Penta’s deal with WWE had been finalized weeks ago, after his AEW contract expired on December 1. The report stated that Penta was originally supposed to team up with Rey Mysterio and take on The New Day, but the plan was changed. Sapp cited sources who claimed that releasing the merchandise before the debut was a “happy accident.”
According to Sapp, Penta was behind the scenes all day and he was not hidden. Sapp also confirmed PWInsiderAccording to Penta’s report, the segment dragged on over time as its promotion lasted longer than expected. The report notes that it is unclear whether this led to the removal of other segments.

According to Sapp, a senior official had not heard of any heat on Penta for his segment lasting longer than expected, and they said any heat should be on whoever decided there should be a hard on the series.
Additionally, Sapp wrote that WWE was trying to wrap up the live portion of WWE RAW in about two and a half hours. Sapp cited talent who claimed they hadn’t heard of any heat on Penta for his feature segment, and the roster would have been happy for him.
