The Premier League did not charge any clubs for breaching the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) last season, although Leicester City remains most at risk of further sanctions.
Newly promoted Leicester were referred by the Premier League to the independent commission for PSR breaches last March and were subsequently charged, although the club successfully lodged an appeal, meaning they avoided any deductions of points.
However, the Premier League had appealed Leicester’s acquittal decision, with British media reporting that the case needed to be concluded before being charged with further violations.
The Premier League said in a statement: “Questions regarding the jurisdiction of the Premier League over Leicester City Football Club in relation to compliance with the PSR are currently the subject of confidential arbitration proceedings.
“Accordingly, neither the League nor the club will make any further comment at this stage on any aspect of the club’s compliance or otherwise with the PSR or related rules, except to say that no complaints have been made against Leicester by the League for any breach of the PSR for the period ending the 2023/24 season.”
