Australia’s prime minister is set to tout his country’s vast resource reserves as a solution to China’s restrictions on rare earths in a meeting Monday with the president. Donald Trumpas the United States and other countries work to diversify their supply of essential minerals.
Antoine Albanais is scheduled to meet Trump around 11 a.m. in Washington and will aim to use the meeting to strike a deal with the United States on critical minerals. He is also expected to seek assurances on the administration’s commitment to the Aukus Pact, under which the United States must help provide Australia with nuclear submarines.
