Two standout players share an early Sunday morning kickoff. For a third consecutive weekend and the last time this season, the NFL spreads its tents on British soil, with the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium. Trevor Lawrence and the new Jags are still trying to break through in a cramped AFC; Matthew Stafford and his Angelenos must adjust on the fly without their elite leading receiver.

This game invites a whole series of questions: about time zone changes, broadcast restrictions, disparities on the ground and the strange connection between the Duval sun and the London fog. Here’s what you need to know before tuning into the latest overseas kick-off.

How to watch the Rams vs. Jaguars

  • Place: Wembley Stadium — London
  • Time: 9:30 a.m. ET, Sunday
  • Television (national): NFL Network
    • Rams, on the market: Fox Channel 11 (KTTV)
    • Jaguars, on the market: Fox Channel 30 (WFOX)
  • Streaming: Fubo (stream for free now)
  • Are you watching in person? Get tickets on StubHub.

NFL Network also broadcasts on NFL+.

The 4-2 Rams, without Puka Nacua

Sean McVay leads a team entering Week 7 ranked in the top 10 in yards gained and yards allowed. Stafford leads all rushers with nearly 1,700 passing yards and 78 first downs. His current passer rating of 106.2 is the highest of his stellar 17-year career. Certainly, Stafford’s life is considerably easier with Davante Adams in the vertical routes. The three-time All-Pro wideout has passed for 20+ yards every week of his fledgling tenure in Los Angeles.

The offense will be without middle pillar Puka Nacua, who was ruled out of this match on Friday. He injured his ankle during last Sunday’s blowout victory against the Baltimore Ravens. Nacua had scored nine or more goals in every game before his injury.

McVay has established himself as a savant at zone blocking and motion offense, but this year’s defense unequivocally leads the Rams so far. The group coordinated by Chris Shula has the third best red zone percentage; he exhausts opposing QBs with the pass-rush duo of Byron Young and Jared Verse. Young has 7 1/2 sacks heading into this weekend’s game, which is remarkable considering he’s had that many in 17 games in 2024.

London Rams all-time record: 2-2

The 4-2 Jaguars, pride of London

Lord Byron; Amy Winehouse; Trevor Lawrence. Against all odds and for geographical reasons, Jaguars have become an indispensable part of British culture. No NFL team has played more games in London than Jacksonville, an arrangement originally intended to offset revenue from smaller markets. Jags owner Shahid Khan previously attempted to buy Wembley Stadium.

Defensive end and perpetual block loser Josh Hines-Allen loves the city and visiting during the NFL offseason. “My wife and I went to Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant last year and the staff said we just missed it. I’m really not trying to become a fan of anyone, but like Gordon Ramsay… when I was in college I binge-watched Kitchen Nightmares,” he said. Athletics during last year’s trip.

Jacksonville lost at home last Sunday, unable to cover Seattle Seahawks breakout Jaxon Smith-Njigba as he torched its secondary for 162 yards. The teal team earned a signature victory the previous Monday night, edging the incumbent AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs behind Lawrence’s touchdown run. Rookie head coach Liam Coen broke into the league as an assistant under McVay, and Jacksonville’s offense showed signs of growth. But the wins so far have largely come from an aggressive defense that has risen to the top spot in takeaways. Devin Lloyd, who is more of a linebacker and not a defensive back, leads the NFL in interceptions after six weeks.

Jaguars all-time record in London: 7-6

THE broadcast situation

All European NFL games are broadcast live on NFL Network for American audiences. There is a live local simulcast in the teams’ respective regions, meaning this Sunday’s game has in-market listings for Los Angeles and Jacksonville. The significant time difference means departure at 6:30 a.m. in Southern California.

Rich Eisen is on play-by-play and Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner takes color commentary. Sara Walsh reports from the sidelines.

Grill the history of football in London

The NFL has been coming to the United Kingdom for regular season games since 2007, but the London Monarchs predated that commitment in 1991. They were part of NFL Europe, the developmental league that is probably best remembered in the United States for its tiny Madden ratings.

The first NFL showcase in London was won by Eli Manning’s New York Giants, who outlasted the Miami Dolphins 13-10. This game was televised throughout the UK, but it was actually shown as a regional Fox game in America. It was also broadcast at 1 p.m. ET for American viewers, compared to the current time of 9:30 a.m. From 2007 to 2015, all of London’s matches were played at Wembley. Twickenham became the second stadium used in 2016, and Tottenham were added to the venue rotation in 2019.

This year’s UK opener between the Minnesota Vikings and Cleveland Browns was marred by Ticketmaster malfunctions, which created a gridlock at the gates. The game itself was a good watch, though, and the Vikes won thanks to a last-minute strike from Carson Wentz to Jordan Addison. Last week’s game was won by the Denver Broncos, who dropped the New York Jets to 0-6 thanks to nine sacks by Justin Fields.

What are what are the teams doing there?

Rams tight end Tyler Higbee watches “School of Rock,” by his own admission, while an injured Nacua bangs Adele (an appropriate choice for a bruised man). McVay has received love from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who currently has the juice in London with Arsenal’s top spot on the EPL table. McVay is a confirmed Gooner, telling the “Men in Blazers” podcast that he loves Arsenal’s sets.

As for the “local” Jaguars? Jaxson de Ville excites his supporters with a pub crawl. The Hall of Fame mascot (seriously, show some respect) has been doing aerial stunts at Wembley for over a decade now, so he’s extremely comfortable measuring heights with the metric system. As for the human beings involved in Sunday’s showcase, the Jacksonville D-line just learned “have a chin” is the British way of speaking. They can’t seem to keep a straight face about it, which is understandable given its general hilarity:

Who is expected win on Sunday?

The Rams are, by far. BetMGM has Los Angeles as the field favorite at a neutral site, close enough for an intercontinental audience. London exports often turn into low-scoring grinders. While both teams have effective defenses, the Jags rely on creating turnovers, which is a more volatile metric from week to week than the Rams’ scalable deep pass rush.
