Ahead of the assembly elections, the Chief Electoral Officer of Bihar announced on social media, tagging the Election Commission of India.
“In light of the intensive special revision, the final voters’ list has been published on September 30, 2025. People can search for their names by clicking on the link voters.eci.gov.in,” the social media post said.
The CEO did not mention the details of the state’s final electoral roll.
The review process, launched in July, aimed to remove foreign and illegal registrations from the electoral rolls.
The exercise was conducted with the help of over 77,000 Stand Level Officers (BLOs), nearly 3,000 Assistant Officers and over 1.6 lakh Stand Level Officers (BLAs) representing all major political parties.
However, the exercise was criticized by opposition parties. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that irregularities were occurring during the review process.
The EC, for its part, rejected any allegations of bias, stressing that it treats all parties equally and that the exercise is non-partisan.
The case is also under review by the Supreme Court, which is hearing a petition challenging the SIR. The court noted that if any illegality was detected in the methodology followed by the EC during the review, the entire exercise could be invalidated.
