The development marks a significant political shift in the Seemanchal region ahead of the elections.
Announcing his decision on Thursday (October 16), Alam said he was attracted by Jan Suraaj’s vision to transform Bihar, according to news agency PTI.
“I salute Jan Suraaj who, under the vision of founder Prashant Kishor, decided to change Bihar,” he said.
Son of late Tasleem Uddin, an RJD veteran from Seemanchal, Alam noted that joining Kishor’s party would help him carry on his father’s legacy for the marginalized.
Alam explained that he “felt stifled” within his former party for a long time, adding: “There was the same old ‘daal-chatni'”, indicating his frustration with the lack of innovation and progress.
