Reminder: Pokémon Legends: ZA Switch 2 hardware pack is now available

This is a difficult pass on my part. There are no themed accessories and the pack offers less value for money than the Mario Kart pack (since MKW sells for AU$10 more, but these packs cost the same). The announcement of the paid DLC also cemented my decision to skip the game until a physical version of the DLC materialized (as it had already done for Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet).

I’m not interested in a digital copy of the game anyway, which further diminished any desire to purchase it.

Between the extremely disappointing physical library (mainly due to the horribly common practice of GKCs) and the poor battery life, I’ll wait for the inevitable hardware overhaul (the Switch 1 received a new SKU with a better battery shortly after launch). I could pick up third-party games that I suspect might be out of print in the meantime (before the current console), but a portable PC looks more and more appealing by the day, and I suspect that Nintendo will lose a lot of its hardcore audience to competition in the long run if the physical library continues to languish in this way. If I don’t have the option to own third-party games on Switch 2, I’ll look to a platform that does. I’ll take a DRM-free digital on PC over a GKC, with the only possible exception being a blockbuster game that’s not available on GOG, but it would have to be a top-tier bloody game to tempt me, and I’ve only purchased a tiny handful of “download required” games on Switch 1.
