Apple Intelligence may not yet include the promised major Siri upgrades, but there are plenty of other new features just arriving in iOS 26. Here’s everything that’s new.
New Apple Intelligence features available in iOS 26
In iOS 18, Apple Intelligence offers just over 20 features. But iOS 26 adds more than 20 new features and improvements, all in one software release.
Here’s the full list of new AI features in four categories:
Communication

Communication is a major priority with Apple Intelligence in iOS 26, bringing upgrades to the Messages, FaceTime, and Phone apps.
Expansion to more apps and languages

Apple has expanded the reach of Apple Intelligence to new system and third-party apps in iOS 26, as well as adding new supported languages.
- Improved search on Apple Maps: More powerful and efficient search in Maps thanks to AI.
- AI action shortcuts: Use actions that leverage Apple’s AI models, writing tools, or imaging features.
- Automatic categorization reminders: Instantly transform a disorganized list into a well-organized and categorized list.
- Suggested Reminders: Create new reminders based on the content of an email, website, or note.
- Apple Wallet Order Tracking: AI will pull order tracking information directly from your email inbox, including for Amazon purchases.
- AI models for third-party applications: Apps can leverage Apple’s core models to implement new AI features.
- New supported languages: Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Chinese (traditional) and Vietnamese.

Apple’s Genmoji and Image Playground features received several upgrades in iOS 26.
Miscellaneous

Rounding out the iOS 26 Apple Intelligence update is a new battery mode, powerful visual intelligence changes, and expanded notification summaries.
Apple also has several features of watchOS 26 Apple Intelligence which require iOS 26 to run the AI ​​models, so these could also be considered iOS features.
iPhone compatibility for Apple Intelligence in iOS 26

When Apple Intelligence launched last year, it supported a small number of very recent iPhone models.
There is good news and bad news with iOS 26:
- the good news is that if your iPhone supported last year’s AI features, all the new Apple Intelligence features will work too
- the bad news is that Apple hasn’t expanded AI support to older devices
This means you’ll need an iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, or any model of the iPhone 16, iPhone 17, or iPhone Air to benefit from the new features.
