Diane Keaton’s cause of death has been revealed days after the Hollywood icon passed away at the age of 79.
The Oscar-winning actor’s family told People magazine that she died of pneumonia on October 11. “The Keaton family is so grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received over the past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” they wrote in a statement.
“She loved her animals and she strongly supported the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,” Keaton’s family also shared about her passions.
Keaton was known for her roles in Annie Hallthree Godfather movies, Something has to give, Reds, Marvin’s roomtwo Book club films and two Father of the bride films, among dozens of other films. In addition to her unique on-screen presence, she has also regularly made style statements both on and off-screen, showing women how to seamlessly combine fashion and identity.
Following the news of her death, tributes poured in from her friends, former co-stars and fellow actors, including Bette Midler, Francis Ford Coppola, Kate Hudson, Steve Martin, Jane Fonda, Nancy Meyers and Octavia Spencer, among others.
