Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Pam Bondi reacted to the latest “Saturday Night Live” cold turkey, in which Tina Fey and Amy Poehler parodied the DHS secretary and attorney general, respectively.
“(Kristi Noem), should we recreate this image in Chicago? Bondi wrote on Sunday X, sharing a screenshot of the sketch. “I love Amy Poehler!”
While Noem remained silent, DHS Deputy Secretary Tricia McLaughlin told Entertainment Weekly of the cold open: “‘SNL’ is absolutely right – the Democratic shutdown needs to end!” »
“SNL’s” latest cold open began with Poehler’s Bondi defending his controversial Senate hearing earlier this week, which saw the AG questioning everything from the Epstein files to his involvement in the James Comey indictment.
“I’m not going to discuss my private conversations with the president,” Poehler said as Bondi said. “I won’t tell you who fell asleep in the middle of a sentence, or who kept calling me Ivanka and patting their knees.”
Of the Epstein files, Poehler joked: “I tried reading the Epstein files, but I got really bored. It’s so repetitive. ‘Trump this, Trump that.’ Yawn.”
Noem de Fey then entered the frame, carrying an assault rifle and wearing a DHS hat.
“That’s right, it’s me, Kristi,” Noem said of Fey. “I spell my name with an ‘I’ because that’s how I thought it was spelled.”
Noem de Fey then gave some behind-the-scenes information about how she recruits people for ICE. She said, “How did I find them? Running ads like this: Do you need a job now? Yeah. Are you a big, tough guy? Yeah. Tough enough for the military or the police? No. Do you take supplements that you bought at a gas station? Every day. Do you like using zip ties because the people in your life don’t trust you with keys? You know that. Suck on it a few, big guy. Welcome to ICE. ”
