Al Pacino is reportedly grappling with one major regret: never having married Diane Keaton, who died Saturday at age 79.
The Daily Mail reports that a friend of the 85-year-old told them they would know he would “forever regret not acting when he had the chance.”
The source added, “For years after he and Diane split, Al used to say, ‘If it’s meant to be, it’s never too late to do it again.’ But unfortunately it is now,β adding that he admitted the love of his life was Diane.
The couple first met in 1974 on the set of βThe Godfather,β with Keaton playing his girlfriend. They began dating soon after, but separated in 1990 when Al allegedly refused to commit to marriage.
It looks like Diane ended their relationship β in 2017, she said that while it wasn’t her choice at the time, they were ultimately better off.
As you know, Diane died on Saturday, although the cause of death has not yet been revealed.
