The BJP is expected to finalize seat-sharing arrangements in the coming days, while the first list of candidates is expected to be released by October 13, News18 reported citing sources.
The development comes a day after, when reports suggested that “all is not well” in the NDA as the parties failed to reach a consensus on the seat-sharing deal.
The BJP’s Central Election Commission (CEC) would meet on October 12 and seat sharing would be decided, according to News18.
The list to be released on October 13 will include the names of candidates from the BJP, Janata Dal United (JDU), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), among others.
HAM should have 15 seats
Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi demanded at least 15 seats in the alliance, saying it would win 8-9 and could become a recognized party.
Manjhi had written a poem on her X account (formerly Twitter) on October 8. He also told journalists that if the party did not obtain a “respectable number” of seats, he would not be able to run. However, it would still work for the NDA.
Chirag Paswan’s LJP demands 45
Chirag Paswan’s LJP, which was earlier said to have agreed to contest in 20-22 constituencies, has increased its demands to 45 seats, according to senior party leaders, news agency PTI reported.
First list of Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj party
Political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party released its first list comprising 51 candidates on October 9.
The list names a range of personalities from mathematician to famous Bhojpuri singer to doctors and advocates.
The party also fielded its transgender candidate, Priti Kinnar. However, Kishor’s name was not mentioned, leading to speculation about which constituency he will contest from.
