Playing with friends is only fun when everyone has a controller in hand: there’s nothing worse than wanting to jump into a co-op session or hosting a game night only to realize you’re missing a controller. That’s where having an extra Xbox controller becomes essential, and right now, Microsoft is practically giving them away: the 2025 Carbon Black edition (and many other colors) is down to just $49 on Amazon, down from its usual price of $64. This is an all-time high that didn’t even happen on Prime Day, which tells you that Microsoft is seriously clearing out its inventory.

The 2025 model retains everything gamers loved about previous versions while refining the experience: the Carbon Black finish looks sleek without showing fingerprints as easily as glossy controllers, and the ergonomic design ensures your hands won’t cramp during those marathon gaming sessions. The textured grip on the back and triggers provide greater control during intense moments.

Cross-platform freedom that actually works

This one controller does it all seamlessly between Xbox One, Xbox Series. By being cross-platform, you are not tied to a single ecosystem. Need to continue your gaming session on your laptop while someone else prefers to use the television? Simply sync the controller via Bluetooth (which does it in seconds) and you’re ready to go. With a wireless range up to 30 feetyou have the freedom to sit comfortably anywhere in your living room and never have to worry about losing a signal.

Special mention should be given to battery life, as it directly affects how you play games: it uses two AA batteries and gives you approximately 40 hours of battery life before replacement which translates to just over two months of moderate use. It lasts longer than many rechargeable controllers which lose capacity after a year. You can of course use rechargeable AA batteries if you’re that type, which gives you flexibility depending on how you have things set up. When used with Xbox consoles, the wireless network uses the proprietary Xbox protocol and which gives you lower latency than regular Bluetooth. This makes a huge difference if you play competitive games and reactions are measured in milliseconds.

The button layout follows the classic Xbox design that millions of gamers already know intuitively: the hybrid directional pad handles both swiping movements and eight-way exact input and is suitable for both fighting games and platformers. The analog sticks feature improved sensors with fewer dead zones, so your character responds to the smoothest movement.

For just $49 less than $64, you get a controller that has a 4.6-star rating from over 20,000 reviews and is currently at the top of the best-seller charts among Xbox Series X and S controllers. This all-time low makes now the best time to acquire another controller in your arsenal.
