Classifying this one as a slightly random format, but fans have noticed that the new Nintendo Switch version of Super Mario Galaxy has replaced one of its NPCs.
In the original Wii, Starship Mario had a specific Toad that you could interact with to drop Starbits. This allowed players to transfer currency between save files. This toad is now gone (as Jhay relays) and is replaced by another one that tells you how to use the amiibo.
What’s interesting is that you don’t actually use the amiibo when talking to this toad. Instead, you need to open the menu and select the designated icon. It’s a little hard to miss and very easy to use, but perhaps Nintendo wanted to make sure players could find it and felt the original NPC wasn’t useful enough.
Of course, Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Nintendo Switch adds more than it takes away. The visuals have been slightly updated and 4K resolution is supported on Nintendo Switch 2, there is a new assist mode, soundtrack mode and the addition of Rosalina’s storybook. We rounded up the details here.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 can be purchased now on Nintendo Switch. Our review of the package can be found here.
