90s rock frontman found beaten to death, police investigating

Peter Forrest, the frontman of the rock band 24-7 Spyz who rose to fame in the 1990s, has died.

He was 64 years old.

Loudwire.com reported that Forrest, whose stage name was P. Fluid, was found beaten to death on January 13 in New York. Forrest allegedly drove an ambulance and after he failed to pick up his vehicle and stopped answering his phone, they became concerned. That’s when a co-worker used GPS to track his vehicle, and when they found him, according to the report, the front window had been smashed and Forrest was lying face down in the back of the ambulette.

Police determined he had been beaten to death.

Loudwire said that 24-7 Spyz enjoyed “its greatest success in the late ’80s and early ’90s, offering a brand of funk metal representative of the different influences the band picked up in their native Bronx.”

Forrest was the frontman on three of the band’s eight studio albums. He left the band for four years, according to Loudwire, after touring in 1990 alongside Jane’s Addiction and returning in 1994.

“He brought a sense of reckless abandon, but in a fun way. » Jimi Hazel, guitarist for 24-7 Spyz, told Rolling Stone. “He was climbing the rafters. When he wanted to sing, he could sing. But he started yelling and screaming more.

Loudwire reported that Forrest had a few other plans, including forming the group BlkVampires which he parted ways with in 2019.
