85-year-old woman dies in head-on collision in Lake Murray
An 85-year-old woman died after driving on the wrong side of a Lake Murray road and crashing into another vehicle on Friday, San Diego police said.
The accident happened on Mission Gorge Road near Cottonwood Avenue around 5:20 p.m.
The woman was in a westbound 2018 Toyota Corolla in the eastbound lanes when it collided with a westbound 2021 Toyota Venza, police said.
The woman was taken to hospital where she died, police said. The 70-year-old driver of the Venza was also taken to hospital after complaining of chest, neck and back pain.
Police said they did not suspect the Corolla driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The department’s traffic division is investigating the accident. Anyone with information about the collision has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
