I consider that spring is the most frustrating fashion season, especially in New York. One day, it’s beautiful and sunny, and the next it is cold and rainy-so how do you dress for time in constant evolution? To complicate things more, I am five feet high, I was looking for remote options for the little people who will lead me throughout the season and will spend in the summer.
I know that I am not the only person to take up this challenge, so I called on the small fashion expert Madeleine Cohen, founder of Nelle Atelier, a wardrobe brand for women of 4 inch and less, for her best advice for building a spring capsule wardrobe. She shared her advice for spring purchases focused on small centered with me, and I already implement in my wardrobe.
Below, find your best professional advice, as well as small J.Crew, Gap, Anthropology store options, and even more from $ 39.

Play with proportions
An appropriate style can make all the difference, especially for small buyers. Cohen suggests balancing an oversized high with something “more adjusted at the bottom” or vice versa. Overdown items may seem intimidating, but you can find many “oversized” options cut in small proportions, such as this white J.crew button. Try to twin it with straight leg jeans, or take the most daring path and try a pair of conflicting skinny jeans.

Do not be afraid of the length
Although it may seem counter-intuitive, Cohen recommends that small buyers opt for parts with a length. “I find things that are either my ankles or my size to be the most flattering,” she explains. Cohen also says that she wears her pants, her coats and her long dresses, and if she wears something short, she does not let pass “half-thigh”, adding that the longer lengths make her legs “look the longest”.
If you have avoided the length in the past, remember to try a small trench like this Banana Republic. With summer at the corner of the street, a maximum dress is another raised part to add to your wardrobe, and this best rated anthropology option is available in small size.

Invest in timeless parts
Clothes on clothes are not essential to build a small spring wardrobe, but Cohen says that investing it in a few key parts of a brand that suits you well. “Find what it’s for you and respect them!” She suggests. Cohen underlined the Jean Laura of the Spring Goutte of Nelle as a must-see of the wardrobe, saying: “They feel like a tracksuit but give me the polished air.” This timeless tailor -made blazer of J.Crew is another piece without effort that you have sure for the years to come, and it is made with a material of mixing light linen perfect for spring.

Build a neutral wardrobe
“This is a style tip which is not only for the little ones and which is probably controversial,” prefers Cohen, before continuing to explain that you have to build a wardrobe around neutral pieces. “I find that I have endless outfits because my wardrobe is made up of mainly neutral colors and a few prints,” she explains. While Cohen likes a “red pop” or a “butter yellow” here and there, she found that even these colors are “easy to integrate into a wardrobe that is mainly cream, brown, beige, olive and black green”.
