8.2 million bags of Tide, Gain laundry detergent packets recalled for ‘serious injury’ risk – NBC Chicago

More than 8 million bags of liquid laundry detergents distributed in the United States, including Tide and Gain, were recalled by Procter & Gamble on Friday due to a “risk of serious injury” regarding the product’s packaging.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recall includes certain lot codes of Tide Pods, Gain Flings, Ace Pods and Ariel Pods liquid laundry detergent packets packaged in flexible film bags that were manufactured between September 2023 and February 2024.

The recall indicates that approximately 8.2 million bags were recalled, and an additional 56,741 bags affected by the recall were sold in Canada.

The CPSC said the outer packaging containing packages intended to prevent access to the contents may open near the zipper, posing a risk to children if the contents are ingested, as well as a risk of skin injury and ocular.

Ingesting large quantities of any household cleaner containing a surfactant could potentially be fatal in people with underlying health conditions.

The bags were sold at several major national retailers, including Big Lots, CVS, Family Dollar, Target, Walmart, Sam’s Club and The Home Depot.

To find out if your detergent bag was affected by the recall, check the lot code at the bottom of the package. The lot codes affected by the recall will be found here.
