706 people named Kyle gathered in Texas. It wasn’t enough for a world record.

How many people named Kyle can fit in one place? For a Texas town, that’s not enough.

Another attempt by the town of Kyle, Texas to break the world record The largest gathering of people with a single name failed Saturday, despite the presence of 706 Kyles of all ages in a suburban Austin park.

The crown is currently held by a Bosnian town that brought together 2,325 people named Ivan in 2017, according to Guinness World Records.

This isn’t the first time the Kyles have come after the Ivans. Last year, the official count for what is now known as the Kyles Gathering was 1,490 people in the growing Texas city, about 40 miles south of Austin, the state capital.

Kyle is not one of the most popular names in the United States, according to the Social Security Administration, which tracks the names given to girls and boys in each state each year. The most recent data shows that Kyle ranked 416th among boys’ first names in 2023.

In comparison, Ivan ranks 153rd.
