70 Workers Trapped in Rock Quarries

Seventy workers are trapped in two rock quarries after a massive 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Taiwan on Wednesday, the Associated Press reported.

The earthquake struck off Taiwan’s east coast on Wednesday, disrupting the morning rush hour and destroying buildings. This is the largest earthquake to hit the country in 25 years.

Taiwanese firefighters say that in addition to the trapped workers, at least nine people were killed, the AP reported.

It is unclear how the workers became trapped or how they will need to be rescued.
