Barça thought they had done the job, but the 37 -year -old defender Francesco Acerbi scored with an incredible finish inside the box with only a few minutes to equalize for Inter Milan. Again, the score has read 3-3. The goal closed 90 minutes of fireworks. The first Inter Milan scored twice with Lautaro Martínez (21 ‘) and Hakan Calhanoglu (Pen. 45’), the scorers. Then came the three goals of Barça. Eric (54 ‘), Dani Olmo (60’), then Raphinha (88 ‘) overturned the result.
Inter looked and beaten. But then came Acerbi, sending the game in an additional time. It looked like justice. After all, the two teams had provided viewers with certain spectacular views of the Champions League over the years. And we haven’t finished. Completely unleashed, Inter Milan continued to rush forward, and in the 99th minute, Davide Prattesi would mark what turned out to be the winner.
Inter VS Barca – Italians with unusual performance
There is no doubt. What we witnessed was historic. It was also a somewhat unusual victory of the Italians. Before the draw, Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer led the Champions League with seven clean leaves in 12 games. Sommer sat at the end of the first stage against Feyenoord, but even without the Swiss goalkeeper, Inter Milan managed to keep a white sheet, beating the Dutch side 2-0.
The 210 minutes whole against Barcelona were unusual inter Milan. The Italians were a defensive power before equality. But then, the Italians had trouble containing Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski, Olmo & Co. Just to put him in perspective, eight of the 11 goals that Inter Milan conceded in this campaign of the Champions League came in 210 minutes against Barcelona.
It says a lot, however, for the side of Simone Inzaghi that they could adapt to Barça football. Rather than trying to contain an attack line that could not be contained, Inter Milan drove with punches. The Italians played offensive football with free flow, using their fast attackers, above all Marcus Thuram, who was excellent in both legs. In fact, looking at this result and the way in which Inter could play a football style that is not typical for them, it would be a mistake to bet against them in the final, regardless of the opponent.
