According to the outlet, authorities were able to locate a six-year-old boy in an apartment on the fourth floor. Ultimately, the child was transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. However, the 6-year-old later died.
According to PEOPLE, the child was later identified as Jayden Gotell-Watkins. NBC 10 Philadelphia reports that he was reportedly there to visit his great-grandmother, Dorothy Smith, for the holidays.
“He was a good boy, a very funny boy. He was smart,” Smith told NBC 10 Philadelphia.
Furthermore, the authorities reportedly noted that “13 police officers, a firefighter and three residents” had to be transported to hospital for “minor burns, smoke inhalation and exhaustion.”
According to USA Today, authorities also noted that the cause of the fire was still unclear. However, no foul play is suspected at this time.
Finally, the media reports that the American Red Cross is committed to providing affected and displaced individuals and families with meals and “advice on (the) next steps they can take.” WPVI reports that at least 16 residents were displaced by the fire.
A 37-year-old man is also believed to have died in a house fire.
As The Shade Room previously reported, last month there were reports of a man, Steven Weatherford Jr. who lost his life in a fire on Christmas Day. Weatherford Jr. reportedly planned to propose to his girlfriend during the holiday season. However, when a fire broke out in their home, Weatherford Jr. reportedly lost his life trying to find the ring he had hidden from his girlfriend.
