6. Superman vs. the American Government

Steel man made it clear that the US government had reservations about someone as powerful as Superman being allowed to act unsupervised, but is that the same in this reboot?

While the hero has been spotted Walking into Metropolis City Hall, we can’t imagine he did anything inside that was serious enough to warrant arrest by the military. Yet we saw the hero forced to the ground and handcuffedand there must be a good reason for that.

It could be that Amanda Waller is crossing the line or, more likely, that Superman is being framed. Perhaps by a complacent clone who wreaked havoc in his town while wearing a costume that looked just like him? We will come back to this later…

5. Clark Kent’s new look

In reality, the idea of Clark Kent hiding the fact that he’s Superman with a pair of glasses is ridiculous. Then again, no one recognizes Batman just because he wears a hood!

The same can be said of any superhero, though DC Studios deserves credit for finding a way to fix that. With his trusty safety glasses, Corenswet’s Clark I will have a mop of curly hair which makes him seem unpretentious and far from the dashing man of tomorrow.

The actor can’t hide his height, but from the pictures we’ve seen (which can also be found at the link above), Corenswet East changing his position and demeanor to appear completely ordinary like the Daily Planet reporter.

4. A Comically Accurate Cat Grant

Mikaela Hoover is stunning, so we’re not really shocked that Gunn cast her as the Daily Planet’s explosive gossip columnist.

Cat Grant has been portrayed in many different ways over the years, sometimes as a tragic figure and other times as a busty flirt who leaves poor Clark stumbling over his words. To Superman, it seems – at least on the surface – as if we get the latter.

We have no doubt that Clark will have a crush on Lois Lane in this movie (whether they’re a couple at this point remains to be seen). However, adding Cat to the mix might bring some humor to the Planet’s editorial board.

3. Creature Commando Cameo

From the beginning, Gunn said the DCU would be connected to all forms of media. This extends beyond film and television to animation and video game projects, with a single character anywhere in this franchise in its early days.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier star Frank Grillo will play Rick Flag Sr. for the first time in Creature Commandos before making the jump to Peacemaker season 2 where he will target Christopher Smith to avenge the death of his son. In SupermanHe will be joined by The Engineer (member of The Authority) and a mysterious masked villain when, with the army, they apprehend the hero.

We know Flag Sr. works for Amanda Waller because Creature Commandos are all she is allowed to muster after her past actions are revealed in PeacemakerAnyway, it looks like ARGUS is going to get involved here.

2. Lex Luthor injured in battle

We haven’t seen Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in its entirety yet, but these essential clichés reveal the Superman the bad guy has seen some action as he has some nasty little cuts on his head.

His forehead and chin are also bleeding, suggesting that Lex was involved in a rather serious incident. It would be easy to jump to the conclusion that this must have been from a fight with Superman, although with so much destruction on the streets of Metropolis, the possibilities are endless.

If we were to come up with a theory, it’s possible that Lex found himself on the wrong end of an altercation with one of his creations. Let us explain…

1. Ultraman!

By far the biggest spoiler this week was the arrival of a massive and brutal villain on set, he appears to be the Ultraman of the DCU. Rumors that he will appear have been circulating for months, although Gunn appears to have unique plans for the multiversal Superman doppelganger.

This is supposedly a clone created by Lex Luthor in Superman, and given its size, something tells us the villain managed to create something more “ultra” than “super.”

However, as we theorized earlier todaythere’s a very good chance that Ultraman is an amalgamation of four different DC Comics villains. Gunn insists that Lex is Superman’s main villain, but the main character needs someone to fight and we think that’s where this guy comes in.
