@ Chimmy1024 There are various factors here which include license problems as well as the publisher and the apathy of consumers. This is not new, the PS3 and the PSP have experienced an excellent PS1 market for a few years (it is literally why the crash trilogy was remastered), but no one cared a lot about the official support of the PS2 in the future and the taking of PS1 is more than expected.
In addition, publishers prefer to sell a remaster or a remake or a collection to everyone rather than having a “free” money from an imitated PS1 / 2 version which will discourage more people than interest. (For example, the MGS collection is emulated but “Upsold” as a collection)
So, the problem if you need to convince people to put together games and convince people to play them and I am not surprised if the publishers do not see a return that interests them.
